چکیده

The Future Internet is not envisaged to be simply a faster way to go online. What is expected to fundamentally change the way that people use the Internet is the ability to produce, and seamlessly deliver and share their own multimedia content. In this paper, we introduce and analyse innovative architecture components to offer media scalable content delivery, increasing the robustness, enriching the PQoS and protecting the content from unauthorized access over heterogeneous physical architecture and P2P logical overlay network topologies. Technology pillars in which the system is based are described: i.e. Multi-layered/Multi-viewed content coding, Multi-source/multi-network streaming & adaptation, content protection and lightweight asset management.

Video streaming over P2P networks: Challenges and opportunities

A robust real-time video communication service over the Internet in a distributed manner is an important challenge, as it influences not only the current Internet structure but also the future Internet evolution. In this context, Peer-to-Peer (P2P) networks are playing an imperative position for providing efficient video transmission over the Internet. Recently, several P2P video transmission s...

Multipath Adaptive Video Streaming over Multipath TCP

Multimedia streaming over the Internet has become popular over the years and expected to constitute 90% of Internet traffic in the near future. However, state-of-the-art solutions for multimedia streaming are inherently limited by their use of a single network path and a lack of efficient adaptation algorithms. Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH) is a new streaming technology that uses ...

Advances in Network-adaptive Video Streaming

Internet transmission is characterized by variations in throughput, delay, and packet loss, which can severely affect the quality of multimedia presentations delivered over the network. Still, Internet video streaming has experienced phenomenal growth in the last few years, owing to the extensive research in video coding and transmission. In this paper, we review several recent advances for net...

A Framework for Future Internet-Based TV Broadcasting

IPTV, or Internet-Based TV broadcasting is going to significantly change the way people obtain information, get entertainment, and possibly collaborate with each other. Compared with today’s TV system, IPTV gives the viewers more choice as to what to watch and how to watch, and allows users to broadcast their own programs easily, thus “democratizing” information broadcasting. To realize the vis...

Robust and Scalable P2P Streaming for Future Media Internet

Future Media Internet will require to share and distribute high quality multimedia contents and services in a flexible, efficient and personalized way through dynamic and heterogeneous environments. One approach for fulfilling this is by means of taking advantage of P2P distribution techniques and the use of source coding techniques such as MDC and SVC. This paper discusses these issues based o...
